Deadpool “Katana-Rama!”, November 2011
Anyone who has played against me in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will have that phrase stuck in their head forever. Deadpool is one of my favorite characters and, surprisingly, I have only drawn him once or twice in the past 15 years. This past weekend, though, I was giving a friend a video tutorial on my artist process and decided to finish up this illustration.
The illustration seen above was edited and colored in Photoshop. I wanted to have a really comic feel with colors that pop from the screen.
My inks are shown above. I ink using a combination of brushes and technical pens using india ink on bristol board. This is typical to my process so that I can take my illustration and render it traditionally in markers and paint.
I did edit some of the original picture prior to completing the colors. It isn’t perfect, but it also isn’t bad for getting a completed illustration done in a few hours one evening while teaching. =)
I JUST SAW YOUR SUBMISSION TO THE DEADPOOL CONTEST. <3<3<3<3 I SMELL A STAFF PICK COMING ON!!!
I hope so! I busted my butt working on these Deadpool submissions. Did you see my other ones? I was going to “release” them on my website when the contest starts.
Thanks!! ❤
